"Burning desire to be forgiving and considerate"
Desire: longing, craving, aspiration and request
Joseph was thrown in a pit and sold into slavery by his own brothers. God took a
problem and turned it into a purpose for His glory. (Genesis 37:23-27 And it came to
pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his
coat, his coat of many colors that was on him. 24. And they took him and cast him
into a pit and the pit was empty, there was no water in it. 25. And they sat down to
eat bread; and they lifted their eyes and looked, and behold, a company of
lshmaelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh,
going to carry it down to Egypt. 26. And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is
it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? 27. Come, and let us sell him to the
Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh.
And his brethren were content. How painful would that be to be abandoned and
sold into slavery? Do you feel like your family, friends, co-workers or other people
have thrown you into a pit? Don't despair; God is still there to give you a hand out
of the dark, dungy, dreary pit and you will know that the deliverance and hope
only came from the Lord. The Lord did not deliver Joseph immediately from the pit
to the palace; it took time. Keep believing and standing on the Word of God'
Be considerate and forgiving no matter what the circumstances are.
No matter how abandoned and lonely we feel, we should love God and do the right
thing even when others don't. We should be determined to muster up enough faith
to rise above any situation that is thrown at us.
lf all we see is the pit. then the pit is where we will stay.
lf we see God as our deliverer, hope and defender, then we will get out of the pit
and be given a robe, ring and a great position for God's glory not man's. When it
feels like everyone doesn't love us like we think we deserve to be loved, and it feels
like everyone has turned their back on us, it is not easy to turn the other cheek. lt is
extremely difficult when we have invested time and effort into a friendship or
relationship only to get totally crushed. We have all had people in our lives like that,
Christian and non-Christian, that have totally shattered us so badly that we think we
will never get over it. And then we get alone with God in prayer and we realize that
we need to have a burning desire to forgive them and move beyond our pain into
TOTAL healing. The love, mercy and grace that God gives us supersedes all the
unforgiveness and abandonment we will ever feel. Those closest to Jesus abandoned
Him in his time'of need. He kept going even though He knew the end was near. He
saw the bigger picture and we all should be thankful He did. Because of the cost of
Him dying on the cross, those who are lost and shattered may come to the cross of
forgiveness and find eternal life.
