“Commit and Mean It”
Commit: entrust, give, assign and hand over.
God wants us to be doers of His word, and not hearers only.
(James 1:22-24) Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, decieving your own selves (v 23). For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. (v24). For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straight away forgeteth what manner of man he was. KJV
We, all at one time or another, say that were committed to God and others, but sometimes like the twenty fourth verse in the book of James we don’t hear and we never follow through. Yet, while we are standing in front of the mirror, we commit, but as soon as we walk away, we forget the commitment we made to do God’s Word, and to do His work faithfully.
Commitment Builds Trust
How can God trust us, if we don’t commit to do what he asks of us? If we ask God what we should commit to, He will direct us. Some of us do not want to commit because it will to cost something. Commitment is an investment, not a prison sentence. If a relationship becomes a burden, then the commitment was not real or it wasn’t from the Lord. When I made an oath to serve the Lord, it was from the heart, not from my emotions. If it was from my emotions, it would have already fizzled out the first time people ridiculed and made fun of me, and the call the Lord place on my life. When a person truly commits to God’s plan, no demon in hell can stop what God wants to accomplish through us.
Trust Is Imperative - (very important) in every area of our lives
It is very hard to trust anyone who just talks about commitment, and they do nothing to make it come to fruition. Nothing knocks the wind out of our sails faster than someone who stays in the lower deck, and does nothing but blows hot air from below. It sure doesn’t move the ship forward, it just stays in the same place. Committed people bring a determination and drive. They don’t blow hot air; they strive with excellence to move in a common direction with the Lord at the Helm.
Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in PERFECT PEACE, whose MIND is STAYED ON THEE; because HE TRUSTETH in THEE. TRUST ye in the LORD forever; for in the LORD is everlasting STRENGTH.
Today, if you made a commitment to God or man, commit and mean it. If you failed ask for forgiveness. God will forgive you and move forward.
